Frequently asked questions
What is olive pomace oil?
It is the oil obtained from olive pomace — the paste of skins, pulp and pits left after pressing. The crude oil is refined and, blended with virgin olive oil, becomes the "olive pomace oil" category sold for food use. In some markets it is also known as sansa oil.
What is the difference between olive oil and olive pomace oil?
Olive oil is obtained directly from the fruit by mechanical means, while pomace oil is extracted from the residual pomace and must be refined. The result is a more neutral, very stable oil at a lower cost — which is why it is so widely used for frying and food manufacturing.
Is olive pomace oil suitable for human consumption?
Refined pomace oil blended with virgin olive oil (the commercial "olive pomace oil" grade) is fully food grade. Crude pomace oil is an industrial raw material for refining and is not sold for direct consumption.
What is the minimum order of bulk olive pomace oil?
From one pallet of 200 kg drums or 600–950 kg IBCs up to full flexitanks (22–24 t) and road tankers (25–27 t). Tell us your volume and we will propose the best format.
